Embattled exes Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen have been ordered by a judge to stay away from each other.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives stars both appeared in court on Thursday (April 30) at the Third District Courthouse in Salt Lake City. Taylor‘s parents were also in attendance to support her.
Taylor and Dakota were at a hearing as they were seeking protective orders from each other following domestic violence allegations stemming from earlier this year.
At the hearing, it was ruled they both must stay 100 feet away from each other for the next three years, and while they are not criminal orders, they could be arrested if an incident occurs.
“This is a very toxic relationship,” commissioner Russell Minas said, via The Salt Lake Tribune. “If I don’t order both of them to stay away from each other, there will be additional problems.”
As for custody of their two-year-old son Ever, the previous custody arrangement, where Dakota has sole custody and Taylor has visitation, will remain in effect. The commissioner said they need to find a way to co-parent.
“I’m hoping you’re not just people who thrive on drama and conflict,” he said. “You have to put your child first.”
According to the lawyer appointed to represent Ever, the Utah Division of Child and Family Services has asked both parents to do mental health and domestic violence assessments.
The court hearing comes after The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was revealed to resume filming on season five, which paused production in March amid Taylor and Dakota‘s drama.
There was a report that neither of them would resume filming, but Taylor has a different take, and it’s been said that it’s up to her on whether she films or not.
