Mike Vrabel will not be disciplined by the NFL amid his photo scandal involving NFL reporter Dianna Russini.

While the sports journalist recently resigned from her position at The Athletic amid headlines from the viral photos, the New England Patriots coach will not be investigated for a potential violation regarding the league’s policy.

The news was confirmed by league official Brian McCarthy to People on Monday (April 20).

Earlier in the month, the coach and the reporter, who are both married to other people, were seen embracing, hugging, and holding hands while vacationing at the Ambiente resort a few weeks ago in Sedona, Arizona.

“These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn’t deserve any further response,” Mike said in a statement to the New York Post at the time.

“The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day. Like most journalists in the NFL, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues,” Dianna also said in her own statement.

The New England Patriots’ VP for player personnel Eliot Wolf says Mike has been “very involved” and it’s “business as usual” with the team ahead of the 2026 draft.

“He’s been in there with us a little more than he was last year. He’s been contributing. He’s watched a ton of the players.”

Dianna explained when she was resigning that it was not “because I accept the narrative that has been constructed around this episode, but because I refuse to lend it further oxygen or to let it define me or my career.” See her full statement.
