After months of exchanging barbs, Donald Trump and Gustavo Petro agreed to meet in person after a telephone call.
According to Trump, the initiative for the telephone conversation, which would have lasted around 35 minutes, came from the Colombian president, who wanted to explain about the “drug situation” in Latin America, especially Colombia’s role in this situation, and about “the differences they had”.
The American president also said that he hopes to meet Petro “in the near future” and that a meeting between the two is being planned at the White House.
The connection occurs after a series of barbs exchanged between the two. Last Sunday (4), Trump stated that a new military operation against Colombia “sounded good”. After the statement, Petro said that the American leader has a “senile brain”.
