According to the note, the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office had widely publicized the operation, which, in the company’s assessment, characterizes a “symbolic action aimed at putting pressure on X’s senior management in the United States by directing the investigation to its French subsidiary and local employees, who would not be the main focus of the investigation”.
The platform also stated that French authorities ignored “widely used international procedural mechanisms for obtaining evidence in transnational investigations, violating the company’s right to defense.”
According to X, the operation carried out this Tuesday “distorts French law, circumvents due legal process and represents a threat to freedom of expression”. The company declared that it will continue to defend its “fundamental rights and those of its users and that it will not be intimidated by the actions of the French judicial authorities”.
The demonstration comes after the French Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the operation was carried out as part of an investigation that investigates possible irregularities in the functioning of the platform and its artificial intelligence model, Grok.
As informed by the authorities, the owner of the social network, Elon Musk, was summoned to appear in French court to provide clarification, as were other company executives.
