The blackouts in São Paulo will be investigated by the Federal Attorney General’s Office, following orders from President Lula. An ordinance published this Friday in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) created a group to evaluate cases related to the Enel concessionaire.
Prosecutors will analyze all relevant episodes of declines in electricity distribution in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region, from 2023 to the present. The final report must be ready within 30 days, starting next Monday (19), when the working group will be formed.
The document must contain a description of the cases evaluated, an analysis of the measures adopted by Enel and an indication of possible legal and institutional measures. It will support the decision of the Presidency of the Republic on actions that can be taken regarding the topic.
