In the previous year, 2024, there were 175 accidents and 152 deaths, the highest number of victims in the recent series. Part of this total is related to the biggest air disaster in the country in 17 years, which occurred in August of that year. On that occasion, a Voepass plane crashed in Vinhedo, in the interior of São Paulo, during a flight between Cascavel (PR) and Guarulhos (SP), and left 62 people dead. The aircraft lost contact with air traffic control and crashed outside a house in a condominium. There were no survivors. After the accident, the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) suspended the company’s operations for safety-related reasons. In 2023, the country had 155 accidents and 78 deaths. In previous years, records were also close to this level (see below). 📍 Among the states with the highest number of accidents, São Paulo has 285, followed by Mato Grosso (196), Rio Grande do Sul (142), Minas Gerais (134), Paraná (106), Bahia (60) and Rio de Janeiro (42).
