Published on X on Thursday (8), the post has the following caption: “🚨 URGENT: Maduro is forced to take a shower, cut his hair and shave his mustache in prison.” The image shows Maduro without a mustache or hair, wearing an orange jumpsuit, a prison uniform in the USA, with the sequence “D-0329” displayed above the pocket, as if it were a “mug shot” (photograph taken at the time of arrest). The content omits that the image was produced with artificial intelligence (AI) — read more below. ⚠️ Why is this fake? Fato ou Fake submitted the video to SynthID Detector, a Google tool that identifies content generated with the company’s own AI. Analysis result: “Made with Google AI (video) – Synth ID identified in all or part of uploaded content.” This technology verifies a watermark applied directly to synthetically manufactured videos, images, audio or text. The technique is imperceptible to humans, but traceable by the system. In this case, the analysis showed this indicator in almost the entire picture (see below). SynthID detected the presence of Google’s AI watermark in the blue dots. Reproduction The image also presents an indication of being fake: the absence of a mole on the right side of Maduro’s chin (see below). Furthermore, the number displayed on the clothing does not correspond to Maduro’s official record with the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), available on the agency’s website.
