Just 39% of Americans approve of Trump’s work on immigration, down from 41% at the beginning of the month, while 53% disapprove, according to the poll. Immigration was a bright spot for Trump’s popularity in the weeks following his inauguration in January. In February, 50% approved and 41% disapproved. About 58% of respondents said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents went “too far” in their crackdowns, while 12% said they did not go far enough and 26% said the agents’ efforts were “adequate.” About nine in 10 Democrats said agents went too far, compared with two in 10 Republicans and six in 10 independents. Approval at historic low Trump’s overall approval rating fell to 38%, matching the lowest level of his current term, after a drop from 41% in the previous Reuters/Ipsos poll, conducted January 12-13. The survey, conducted online nationwide, collected responses from 1,139 American adults and has a margin of error of about 3 percentage points.
