The statement was made during a meeting of defense ministers from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. “Allowing the smooth transit of commercial ships will be on the agenda after the end of the war, as long as protocols are observed that do not compromise Iran’s security,” Talaei-Nik said, according to Fars. The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world’s main shipping routes for the global transportation of oil and gas. Currently, the flow of vessels remains reduced due to restrictions imposed by Iran, the United States naval blockade of Iranian ports and recent attacks and seizures of ships in the region. Iranian authorities have already stated that ensuring security and stability for vessels crossing the Strait of Hormuz will not be free. Last month, the Iranian Parliament’s Security Committee approved a plan to impose tariffs on ships using the passage. Also on Tuesday, Iranian Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said that Tehran does not consider the war with the United States and Israel to be over. “We do not consider the war to be over. Our current situation is still considered war,” he declared, according to Fars. He further stated that if there are new attacks against Iran, the response will be tougher than in previous offensives. Akraminia also stated that Iran maintained the production of drones during the conflict and that part of the equipment used in operations was manufactured and used during the war. According to him, more than 170 drones and 16 military aircraft were shot down by the defense units of the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Aerospace Force.
