Fernando Schüller: “Lewandowski’s departure was already expected”

by Syndicated News

The Minister of Justice, Ricardo Lewandowski, handed President Lula this Thursday (8) the letter of departure from command of the Ministries of Justice and Public Security. He took office in February 2024, after retiring from the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

Lewandowski leaves the Ministry of Justice without managing to approve the Public Security PEC in Congress. This is the Lula government’s main proposal in the area and foresees greater Union participation in actions to combat organized crime.

Regarding this, political scientist and BandNewsTV columnist, Fernando Schüller, comments that Lewandowski’s departure was already expected and attributes the decision to dissatisfaction with the “department” of the Ministry of Justice.

Finally, Schüller points out that the division of the portfolio can be seen as opportunistic, as it was decreed in an election year and raises a question: “if it was something important, why wasn’t it done before?”.
