Denmark has taken an important step in modernizing its land forces by acquiring eight unmanned ground vehicles for operational testing from January 2026.
The systems, provided by the companies Milrem Robotics e XRC Roboticswill be evaluated by the Danish Army with a focus on technical performance, tactical utility and limitations on the battlefield.

Among the selected models are the THeMIS heavy platform, weighing 1,600 kilos, with a load capacity of up to 1,200 kilos, and the mini-UGV MFP-1, much lighter and more portable. While the THeMIS can perform logistical support missions and even receive light weapons in future phases, the MFP-1 will be used mainly in observation, surveillance and rapid reconnaissance tasks.
The tests are heavily influenced by lessons learned from the war in Ukraine, where unmanned ground vehicles have been used for resupply, evacuation and reconnaissance at high risk.
According to Danish authorities, the experimental phase seeks to generate real data from use in the field, before any decision on larger-scale purchases.
