Mexico City sinking: NASA reveals that the ground gives way 24cm per year

Mexico City is sinking at such a rapid pace that the phenomenon can now be observed from space. Recent images released by NASA reveal that, in some areas of the Mexican capital, the soil is giving way at around 2 centimeters per month — equivalent to around 24 centimeters per year. Over the course of less than a century, the city has already sunk by more than 12 meters, according to experts.
