The cast of Friends each earned $1 million per episode for the final two seasons of the long-running show and they’re still earning nearly as much money every year.
Over 20 years after the show ended on NBC, the cast is earning lots of money for residuals thanks to the show having a successful life in syndication and streaming.
A new report has revealed how much cast members Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and the late Matthew Perry are earning each year in residuals.

Lisa‘s new feature in The Times revealed that number to be $20 million per year for each cast member.
The 9th season of Friends had 24 episodes and the 10th season had 18 episodes, for an average about $20 million per year for those seasons. The cast is effectively earning the same amount each year two decades later, without having to do any work!
“After Matthew died I watched the show again,” Lisa said in the feature. “Before, I only saw what I did wrong or could have done better. But for the first time I truly appreciated just how great it was. I felt I did OK, but Jennifer and Courteney? Amazing. David and Matt? They had me laughing so hard. And then Matthew — he was just beyond us all.”
When asked about the appeal for younger audiences today, Lisa said, “Friends captured a kind of innocence that maybe a younger generation has never got to experience.”
The feature also contained comments from Lisa about the “brutal” treatment from the writing staff.
