Trump’s Fed nominee promises to maintain independent monetary policy

“Monetary policy independence is essential,” Warsh said in a public statement delivered to members of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee, who will decide on his confirmation to a seat on the Fed board as well as a four-year term as head of the U.S. central bank, adding that “it is largely up to the Fed” to maintain that independence, achieving its goals and not deviating from its mandate.
