A crew member working on How to Train Your Dragon 2 has suffered a severe injury.
The injury occurred off-set in the United Kingdom at a workshop at Sky Studios Elstree where the movie is in production, according to Variety.
The individual is a special effects technician who severed multiple fingers on one hand at the workshop during an incident involving a saw. Despite extensive surgery, their fingers were not able to be reattached.
Variety notes that the circumstances of the accident are unclear, but in 2025, the U.K.’s crew member union Bectu issued a joint statement with producer’s union Pact regarding health and safety concerns on film and television productions.

The two organizations said their research found that “broken turnaround,” or working beyond agreed rest periods, is tied to numerous safety risks.
In their statement they said observed reports to Bectu “indicate exhaustion, accidents and near-misses are all too common.”
