by Marcelo Moreira

The Public Ministry of São Paulo indicted businessman Sidney de Oliveira, owner of Ultrafarma, and seven other people this Thursday (5) for active corruption. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, he had offered to pay undue advantages to employees of the State Treasury Department to guarantee tax benefits for the company.

The 76-page document prepared by the MP that details the complaint stated that “among the countless companies that paid bribes to obtain the refund of ICMS credits is ULTRAFARMA”

The so-called ICMS-ST (Tax Replacement) is a tax regime where the manufacturer or importer anticipates the collection of ICMS due throughout the resale chain until the final consumer.
