Dove Cameron and fiancé Damiano David’s meet cute was straight out of a Disney movie.
Indeed, the Descendants star revealed how she and the Moonlight band member’s love story began in true Hollywood style.
“We started dating in the most ridiculous way,” she told Alex Cooper during the Feb. 4 episode of Call Her Daddy. “We met at the VMAs, which is, like, the stupidest way you can meet your partner. Not because the VMAs are stupid.”
Rather, she clarified that the run-in “sounds like a book, like a fan fiction.”
But after the pair met backstage at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, sparks didn’t exactly fly. While the 30-year-old noted how Damiano’s bandmates Victoria De Angelis, Ethan Torchioand Thomas Raggi were more than happy to meet her, her now-fiancé wasn’t so welcoming.
“Damiano was in the back, so he barely looked at me,” she recalled of their first time meeting. “And he was also not giving off friendly vibes. I was like, ‘That guy f–king hates me.’”
But it turns out that the “Beggin” hitmaker’s standoffish introduction wasn’t caused by the Liv and Maddie alum.
