The National Congress resumes its activities next Monday (2). To mark the opening of legislative work, a formal session is scheduled at 3pm, in the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies.
This week, party leaders met to define priority agendas. As 2026 is an election year, the tendency is for parliamentary activities to slow down throughout the year. Given this, Congress’ strategy is to concentrate voting on matters considered strategic in the first half of the year.
Among the priorities is the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union, which, according to the president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta, should be analyzed and voted on quickly. Also on the agenda are provisional measures that create the Gás do Povo program and authorize the opening of extraordinary credit of R$83 million for the rural sector.
