The Polish military delegation recently unveiled Embraer’s light attack aircraft. A-29 Super Tucanoand medium-sized transport aircraft Embraer C/KC-390 Millenniumhas been evaluated, and both models are being reviewed as candidates to meet the country’s operational needs in the future.

The delegation included officials from the Polish Air Force and was headed by Deputy Commander, Major General Ireneusz Nowak. During the trip, military officials confirmed the operational capabilities of the two platforms, conducted proficiency flights of the C/KC-390 Millennium and A-29 Super Tucano, and also inspected the Brazilian manufacturer’s production line.
In addition to the practical activities, the aircraft’s technical specifications, configuration options, acquisition cost estimates and expected operating costs, as well as preliminary economic proposals for potential contracts were presented.
The Polish delegation also met with officials of the Portuguese Air Force, one of the main operators of the KC-390 Millennium. Portugal has already expanded its power by ordering six units and is also acting as a reseller for the platform.

In the tactical transport category, Warsaw is comparing the KC-390 Millennium with the American-made Lockheed Martin C-130J-30. The Brazilian aircraft uses engines derived from the Airbus A320 family and has an estimated catalog price of approximately $85 million.
The A-29 Super Tucano, which has traditionally been associated with counterinsurgency operations, has not been included in Poland’s priorities. For the same reason, the combat version of the domestically produced trainer PZL PZL-130 Orlik was not developed.
However, Embraer is promoting the Super Tucano as a platform optimized to respond to medium and large self-destructive UAVs of the One-Way Attack (OWA) class. Shahed Tangible threats are also included. This is in line with Poland’s efforts to strengthen its ability to respond to unmanned systems.
