The Central Bank (BC) appealed to the Federal Audit Court (TCU) against the decision of Minister Jhonatan de Jesus, who requested “additional information” about the Bank’s liquidation process and determined that the inspection of documents by Court technicians can be carried out within the BC.
In the case rapporteur’s order at the TCU, he stated that the liquidation of the bank was “an extreme measure” and mentioned the possibility of an injunction that could reverse this measure. The Central Bank, in turn, questioned the Court of Auditors and argued that the decision on the audit of documents should be made by the TCU plenary, and not just one minister.
The major concern in the financial system is the possibility that the Central Bank’s decision to liquidate the Master will be annulled, which could affect the credibility and authority of the regulatory body. The president of the TCU, Vital do Rego, has not yet commented on the BC’s appeal.
