Venezuela denounces colonial war after US attack

by Syndicated News

The government of Venezuela repudiated and denounced, before the international community, the attacks carried out by the United States on the territory of the South American country and the Venezuelan population, in an official statement, this Saturday (3). The country defined the Trump administration’s action as a “very serious military aggression” and an “attempt to impose a colonial war, in addition to having the power of Venezuelan oil and minerals.

“This act constitutes a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, especially its articles 1 and 2, which enshrine respect for sovereignty, the legal equality of States and the prohibition of the use of force. Such aggression threatens international peace and stability, specifically in Latin America and the Caribbean, and places the lives of millions of people at serious risk”, says an excerpt from the statement.

The regime had already declared a state of emergency throughout the national territory and announced the activation of national defense plans. According to the note, the attacks also affected the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira.

In the official note, the government appealed to the population and summoned all social and political forces. “The people of Venezuela and their Bolivarian National Armed Force, in perfect popular-military-police fusion, are mobilized to guarantee sovereignty and peace.”
