There’s a new update on the upcoming Miami Vice movie, months after the leads were revealed.
Oscar winner Michael B Jordan and Oscar nominee Austin Butler are set to star in the forthcoming pic from director Joseph Kosinski.
Now, an official title has been revealed ahead of filming starting, along with a confirmed release date.

Title Miami Vice ’85, Michael will star as Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs, while Austin will star as Sonny Crockett, per The Wrap.
The roles were originally played by Philip Michael Thomas and Don Johnson, respectively, in the TV series, and once again by Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell in the 2006 movie.
The upcoming movie “explores the glamour and corruption of the mid-’80s Miami in an all new version,” and is inspired by the first episode of the 1980s TV series.
Miami Vice ’85 is said to be filmed for IMAX and will release in theaters on August 6, 2027 by Universal Pictures.
Joseph Kosinski will also produce, along with Dylan Clark/Dylan Clark Productions, who have recently produced The Batman and The Penguin, with a script by Dan Gilroy. He has written such movies as Kong: Skull Island, Nightcrawler, The Bourne Legacy and several episodes of Andor.
