The defense of Filipe Martins, former international relations advisor to former president Jair Bolsonaro, stated that the preventive detention of the person being investigated represents “revenge” from Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court. The statement was made after the arrest order was carried out by the Federal Police.
According to lawyer Jeffrey Chiquini, Martins exemplarily complied with all precautionary measures imposed by the courts and never received any warning. The defense maintains that there was no reason for the arrest and denies that the former advisor failed to comply with court decisions.
Minister Alexandre de Moraes claims that Filipe Martins violated precautionary measures by using social media, even though he was aware of the ban. The defense did not specifically comment on the alleged access to a LinkedIn account and stated that it will continue to work to reverse the decision.
