One of the documents related to American financier Jeffrey Epstein that are being released by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) makes mention of a “large Brazilian group”.
The mention, initially identified by BBC News, appears in handwritten notes during a report collected by the FBI, the American federal police, on May 2, 2019.
In the excerpt cited, the information “large Brazilian group” appears next to the note “friends of friends of” – it is not possible to know who this is about, because this excerpt is covered by a stripe.
The reference appears to be to some scheme for transporting women or minors for sex trafficking, as on the same page there are notes that talk about “dark-skinned Dominican woman – looks like an Amazonian” and that “JE [provavelmente, Jeffrey Epstein] I didn’t want a Spanish girl or a dark-skinned girl.”
Other handwritten documents talk about a model who “just arrived from Brazil” and about “returning to Brazil”.
Last Friday (19), the deadline stipulated by a law passed in the US Congress and sanctioned by President Donald Trump expired for the DOJ to release all documents on the federal charges against Epstein, who killed himself in prison in 2019, while awaiting trial for a sex trafficking scheme.
Only part of the documents were released on Friday and the DOJ said the rest would be published in the following weeks, sparking criticism from the Democratic opposition.
This Tuesday (23), around 30,000 additional pages of documents related to Epstein were published and the DOJ stated that the allegations against Trump in the files are “false and sensational.”
