Estonia signed a contract worth approximately US$340 million for the purchase of six Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers, produced by South Korean Hanwha Aerospace.
The agreement includes operational support, training and investments in the local defense industry, with the first systems expected to be delivered in approximately two years. The country still has the option to acquire additional units in the future.

As part of the package, Hanwha signed a memorandum of understanding with Estonian company GoCraft OÜ to establish local capabilities for maintenance, technical training and spare parts supply. The initiative seeks to ensure the continuous operation and logistical security of the systems, as well as strengthening Estonia’s defense industrial base through knowledge transfer and long-term investments.
Chunmoo will be used to expand the deep strike capability of the Estonian Defense Forces, acting in a complementary manner to the HIMARS system already in service. With a current range of up to 300 kilometers, and plans to reach 500 kilometers, the system stands out for its greater firepower, thanks to the configuration with two launch modules.
According to authorities, despite being heavier than the HIMARS, the Chunmoo offers greater operational flexibility, in a context of high global demand for rocket artillery.
