The identity of the gunman from the 2026 White House Correspondents’ Dinner has been revealed.

According to CNN, sources reveal that the man has been identified as Cole Thomas Allen, a 31-year-old from California.

This comes after President Trump shared photos of the gunman on his Truth Social account, as well as a surveillance video of the man running through the hotel before authorities took action.

The interim chief of police for Washington, DC, Jeffery Carroll, told reporters that Cole appears to be the lone gunman, and was armed with a shotgun, a handgun and multiple knives.

“He was armed with a shotgun, a handgun and multiple knives,” he said. “As he ran through that checkpoint, members of law enforcement from the United States Secret Service intercepted that individual.”

He added that Cole and law enforcement “exchanged gunfire.”

During a press conference, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro stated that he will be charged with using a firearm during a crime of violence, and assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon. His arraignment is set for Monday (April 27).

Following his arrest, Cole was reportedly taken to the hospital to be evaluated, and was not struck by gunfire, per the interim chief of police.

President Trump has stated that the White House Correspondents’ Dinner will be rescheduled for a time within the next 30 days, and says it will be “bigger and better.”
