In the afternoon, Leão celebrated a mass in the Basilica of Saint Augustine, with the presence of clergy from all over Africa. In his homily delivered in French, the pope urged Christians in Algeria to “bear witness to the Gospel, through simple gestures, authentic relationships and a dialogue lived on a daily basis.”
