Warner Bros. Discovery announced this Wednesday (7) that its board of directors rejected in a unanimous decision the offer of US$ 108.4 billion (around R$ 580 billion, at the current price) presented by Paramount Skydance.
The proposal came after Netflix announced a US$72 billion (around R$382 billion) deal to buy Warner’s TV and film studios and streaming division. In response, Paramount submitted a hostile bid to take control of the company.
A hostile offer occurs when a company, without negotiating with the management of the company it wants to acquire, makes the offer directly to shareholders, offering an attractive price for the shares to try to gain control.
