According to the court decision, Rodríguez would assume “the position of President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in order to guarantee administrative continuity and the integral defense of the Nation”. The statement also added that the court will discuss the issue in order to “determine the applicable legal framework to guarantee the continuity of the State, the administration of the government and the defense of sovereignty in the face of the forced absence of the President of the Republic”.
After Maduro’s capture, Delcy Rodríguez commented on the United States military offensive against Venezuela. At a press conference, she said that Venezuela “is united to guarantee the government” and what is essential. She also said they will defend life.
