The President of the United States, Donald Trump, celebrated the bombings carried out in Caracas, Venezuela, and the capture of Nicolás Maduro in the early hours of this Saturday (03). At a press conference, the president stated that the offensive was a “first wave” and that the military will remain there to act again, if necessary.
Trump stated that, for now, there will be “a peaceful transition” in Venezuela.
“We want peace, freedom for the great people of Venezuela. We have many Venezuelans living in the United States who want to return to the country. We can’t let someone else take over Venezuela and the Venezuelan people, their minds, after decades of a government like this. We’re not going to let that happen. Because people don’t understand, but they will understand one day. We’re going to stay there for a certain amount of time to be able to guarantee a proper transition,” he said.
The president even said that the offensive was considered a “first wave”, suggesting new attacks in Venezuela.
“We will prepare to react to a second wave, if necessary, but for now it may not be. That was the first wave, with a second wave attack. here very successful. And then we will have a much bigger second wave. We have a much bigger wave to come”, he added.
Crimes
Trump stated that the Venezuelan leader is being accused of several crimes, including “drug trafficking, drugs, deaths and murders”. According to him, Maduro led the Los Soles drug cartel.
The North American president also stated that the Venezuelan first lady was indicted by the American courts and the two are on a ship heading to New York, Miami or Florida – there is still no definition.
“We have a lot of evidence of their crimes that will be presented to the law. I’ve already seen what we have. It takes our breath away. For many years, during his presidency, Maduro’s, he was in power and carried out a campaign of violence, terror and subversion against the European Union”, he said.
Oil
Trump also cited Venezuela’s oil, which, according to him, was stolen from the United States during the previous administrations and that of Nicolás Maduro, and stated: “this is American property, it is part of the history of our country”.
“Everything was stolen from us during the previous administrations and Nicolás Maduro. This is American property, it is part of the history of our country. A massive oil exploration infrastructure was taken from us like taking candy from a baby. That’s what they did. But now the dictator Maduro will no longer threaten the United States, they tried.”, he stated.
