The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that Cuba will no longer receive resources from Venezuelan oil and again made threats, demanding that the country reach an agreement with the American government.
The statement was made in a post on social media. According to Trump, Venezuela would no longer need the security offered by Cuba, which, according to him, was provided in exchange for sending fuel to the Caribbean island.
Still in the message, the American president stated that Cuba must “make an agreement before it is too late”, reinforcing the tone of diplomatic pressure.
In response, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said that the country has the right to import fuel from the market it wishes, without “interference or subordination” to measures imposed by the United States.
