On January 1, 2026, in Auburn Hills, Michigan, Ram revealed the first Power Wagon equipped with a Cummins turbodiesel engine, marking a historic milestone in the brand’s off-road pickup lineup.

The launch of the 2027 model was presented via the short film “Resurrection”, hosted by Tim Kuniskis, head of American brands, SRT Performance division and marketing and sales strategy for Ram.

At the heart of this new feature is the popular 6.7-liter Cummins HO engine, a turbodiesel inline-six delivering 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft of torque, positioning the Power Wagon as the diesel torque leader in its class. Despite this new engine, Ram claims that the model retains its title as the most capable full-size pickup off-road.

Cummins in the Power Wagon: a long-standing customer request

According to Kuniskis, the adoption of the Cummins engine fulfills a long-standing customer request. The aim is to combine the robustness of the diesel engine with the extreme off-road capabilities of the model, improving range, towing capacity and performance on trails and difficult terrain.

The Ram Power Wagon with Cummins turbodiesel will hit the market in the second half of 2026, starting at US$88,470, including delivery.

Like the gasoline version, the diesel Power Wagon has skid plates under the vehicle protecting the DEF tank, fuel tank and transfer case. The package includes 20-inch satin black wheels shod with 34-inch all-terrain tires.

The model retains rigid front and rear axles with electronically lockable differentials, exclusive in its category. Manufactured by American Axle Manufacturing, the axles measure 9.25 inches front and 11.5 inches rear, with a 3.42:1 ratio, along with 38mm butted rear halfshafts.

The front suspension uses a three-link system with Bilstein monotube shock absorbers and an electronically disconnectable stabilizer bar, allowing for better articulation on the trails. At the rear, the Power Wagon adopts a five-link suspension with coil springs, also with Bilstein components, providing more comfort without sacrificing load capacity. An air rear suspension with auto-leveling is also available as an option.

Transmission and increased autonomy

To fully exploit the diesel’s torque, the 2027 Power Wagon uses an eight-speed TorqueFlite HD automatic transmission, paired with a 3.42 axle ratio. The first six gears favor power and towing, while the last two reduce engine speed on the road, improving consumption and acoustic comfort.

The 31-gallon tank offers an estimated range of up to 600 miles, designed for overlanding users and long expeditions far from traditional infrastructure.

Robust design and unique configuration

The new Power Wagon with Cummins will be offered exclusively as a 4×4 crew cab and 6-foot-4-inch bed. Off-road angles include a 26.1° approach angle, 26.0° departure angle, 20.6° breakover angle and 13.2 inches of ground clearance. As standard, the model includes Mopar protections for the chassis and cabin.

Aesthetically, the model maintains the aggressive styling characteristic of the Power Wagon, with a functional sporty hood, fender flares, exclusive graphics on the bed, satin black details and the Cummins badge on the front fenders. Options include extended LED lighting, the RamBox load management system, and heated towing mirrors with full power adjustments and memory.

With the introduction of the Cummins engine in the Power Wagon, Ram expands its flagship lineup and reinforces its commitment to offering highly specialized configurations, combining extreme off-road performance, heavy-duty work capacity and increased range.
