Netanyahu says Israel and Iran will return to being allies if the ayatollahs’ regime falls

by Syndicated News

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said this Sunday (11) that Israel and Iran will once again become “loyal allies” if the protests that have spread across Iranian territory for two weeks succeed in overthrowing the ayatollahs’ regime.

“We all hope that the Persian nation will soon free itself from the yoke of tyranny and that, when that day comes, Israel and Iran will once again become loyal allies in building a future of prosperity and peace for both,” Netanyahu said in a statement at the start of his cabinet meeting.

Furthermore, the Israeli Prime Minister highlighted that he remains attentive to the development of the protests “that have spread throughout the country” and that “the people of Israel, and the entire world, are haunted by the tremendous heroism of Iranian citizens.”

Iran warns that US and Israel will be “legitimate targets” if they attack the country

The President of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, warned this Sunday that, in the event of an American attack against Iran, “both the occupied territories (Israel) and all military centers, bases and ships” of the United States and Israel in the region “will be legitimate targets.”

The message comes after American President Donald Trump threatened, in recent days, to intervene in the Islamic Republic if the government does not contain the repression against protesters.

The NGO Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO) raised this Sunday (11) the number of deaths due to the repression of protests in Iran to at least 192, while the country remains without access to the internet and popular demonstrations against the government – which began on December 28 – also continued last night.

The Israeli Army indicated this morning, in a statement sent to EFE Agencywhich is also monitoring the massive demonstrations in Iran, classifying them as an “internal Iranian matter”, and declared that it is prepared to defend itself and to “respond with force” if necessary.

This Saturday (10), the Iranian government accused the United States, in coordination with Israel, of “encouraging instability and violence” in a letter sent to the UN, following Trump’s statements about the protests.

In the letter, the ayatollah regime maintained that coordination between Washington and Tel Aviv is “evident”, citing Trump’s support for what it called a “criminal” Israeli prime minister.

Israel and Iran faced off in June 2025 in the so-called “Twelve Day War”, which broke out after the Israeli Army bombed the Persian country, unleashing cross-attacks with ballistic missiles and drones.

The possibility of a new direct conflict has grown since Trump said he was “prepared to help the Iranian people” against repression by regime authorities.
