Moraes denies Bolsonaro going to the hospital

by Syndicated News

This Tuesday (06), minister Alexandre de Moraes denied the request from former president Jair Messias Bolsonaro’s defense for immediate removal to the hospital after a report of a fall that occurred in the early hours of today.

According to the decision, Bolsonaro received medical care in the morning from the Federal Police team. The responsible doctor found only minor injuries and did not identify the need for hospital referral, recommending only clinical observation.

Based on the information provided by the Federal Police, Moraes stated that there is no justification for the emergency removal of the person in custody to a hospital unit. The minister highlighted that the official assessment did not indicate a risk to physical integrity or worsening of the health condition.

Despite this, the judge recognized the defense’s right to request medical examinations, provided there is a specific indication and proof of need. These exams, Moraes highlighted, must be scheduled in advance and evaluated regarding the possibility of being carried out within the penitentiary system itself.

In the decision, the minister determined that the medical report drawn up by the Federal Police be attached to the case file and that the defense inform which tests it considers necessary. Bolsonaro’s lawyers were duly summoned.

Bolsonaro was sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in prison, including 24 years and 9 months in prison and 2 years and 6 months in detention, in an initial closed regime, in addition to paying a 124-day fine.
