The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force announced that it has begun operating the CH-101 helicopter as part of the 67th Antarctic Regional Scientific Expedition.

Activities are scheduled to begin on November 19, 2025, and continue until April 23, 2025, and are focused on providing logistical and operational support for scientific research conducted in Antarctica.

This mission is led by the icebreaker AGB-5003 Shirase, which is equipped with a flight deck for helicopter operations.
