The president of the Central Bank, Gabriel Galípolo, should meet this Monday (12) with the president of the Federal Court of Auditors, minister Vital do Rêgo Filho, at the headquarters of the Central Bank.
The objective would be to find a way to reconcile the TCU’s supervisory power with the autonomy of the BC, which questions the possibility of technical inspection on the premises. The meeting should also discuss the liquidation of Banco Master, owned by banker Daniel Vorcaro, determined by the Central Bank and analyzed by the TCU. The rapporteur of the Master case at the Court of Auditors, minister Jhonatan de Jesus, is also expected to participate in the meeting.
Last week, the relationship between the two institutions went through “turmoil” after Jhonatan de Jesus ordered an inspection of BC documents. In the minister’s opinion, there was a lack of information to support the explanations given by the monetary authority regarding the liquidation of Banco Master, decreed in November. The BC reacted to the decision and appealed, arguing that the procedure could not be determined by a single minister, but should be submitted to the TCU board for deliberation.
