The Government of São Paulo carries out this Tuesday (30) an integrated operation to comply with warrants issued by the Courts against female attackers. Around 1,700 police officers and 1,000 vehicles are mobilized across the state for the New Year, New Life action against domestic violence. Coordination is carried out by the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat via the Civil Police, which has the support of the Women’s Policies Secretariat.
The first actions began on Monday (29), the execution of 225 arrest warrants across the state. “It’s the answer to the aggressors who thought they could go unpunished”, stated the coordinator of the Women’s Defense Police Stations (DDMs), delegate Cristiane Braga.
The initiative is part of the São Paulo Government’s strategy to permanently combat violence against women, combining repressive actions, prevention and public protection policies. The objective is to increase women’s safety, interrupt cycles of violence and ensure strict compliance with court decisions.
“This operation reflects the integration of security forces with women’s protection policies. The arrest of aggressors is a fundamental measure to preserve lives, guarantee dignity and demonstrate that the State acts in a firm and coordinated manner against domestic violence”, stated the Secretary of Public Security, Osvaldo Nico Gonçalves.
The action has the direct support of the Secretariat for Policies for Women.
