Switching from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing to McLaren could have been a gamble for Christian Lundgaard. And while the 24-year-old Dane did not win a race in 2025, he was more consistently competitive than in his three IndyCar seasons with RLL, setting a career best of six podium finishes and claiming fifth place in the championship.
Lundgaard ran closer to Pato O’Ward than any of the Mexican’s McLaren team-mates to date, and he didn’t succumb to the squad’s unique pressure-packed culture. A decent finish in the finale (where his car broke) would have landed Lundgaard third in the standings.
