Jimmy Kimmel surprisingly has an ally in Megyn Kelly right now, though she’s not a supporter of him at all.
Amid President Donald Trump‘s calls for the late-night talk show host to be fired by ABC, the conservative podcast host is speaking out in support of Kimmel.
Kelly has slammed Trump for his “very inappropriate” attempt to suppress free speech, even though she doesn’t agree with the comments that Kimmel made last week on his talk show. The comedian came under fire from right-wing conservatives after he joked that Melania Trump is an “expectant widow.” The joke came just one day before there was a shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C., which was attended by the president and most of his cabinet.
Kimmel‘s joke was not a call for violence though. He has explained that the joke was referencing the large age gap between the President and the First Lady.
“If we’re gonna go by ABC/Disney’s standards, then it’s not good news for Jimmy. You know, the standard has to be applied even when the person offended is a Republican. But of course, ABC doesn’t really operate that way,” Megyn said on her show. Still, she doesn’t agree with the president.
She added, “He just retweeted again today that he wants Kimmel fired. It’s very inappropriate. The president of the United States should not be calling for any private company to fire any employee, especially over free speech.”
The comments come after Megyn slammed Kimmel on her show this week.
Kimmel just spoke out on the matter again.
