Johnny Depp is hitting the stage at CinemaCon 2026!
The 62-year-old Oscar-nominated actor appeared at the convention to promote his new movie Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol on Thursday (April 16) held at
Directed by Ti West, the upcoming movie is a new re-telling of Charles Dickens‘ 1843 novella A Christmas Carol in which Johnny will be playing Ebenezer Scrooge.
After sharing the first trailer for the movie, Johnny said it was “an extraordinary privilege to step into a story I have been obsessed with since I was a little child,” (per Deadline.)
Keep reading to find out more… “When I was approached by Ti West, my first thought was, there’s no one who can do it as good as Alastair Sim did in the ’30s or whatever,” he continued, referring to the Sim version of the story, which was actually released in 1951,
“It’s a magical performance. But then I thought, that’s no reason not to attempt something,” Johnny added. “I think Ti really did something very special.”
Here’s the movie’s synopsis: “A thrilling ghost story set in Dickens’ London, following one man’s supernatural journey to face his past, present and future as he fights for a second chance at redemption.”
The cast also includes Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman, and Ian McKellen.
