Rio de Janeiro’s PSDB removed Cristiano Santos Hermogenes from the presidency of the party in Belford Roxo, after it was discovered that he is the brother of drug dealer Marcinho VP. Cristiano took office on January 26, but only stayed for eight days. The politician who nominated him was also removed, but his name was not disclosed.
Federal deputy Luciano Vieira, also from PSDB, told BandNews FM that the idea was to expand the party’s presence in the municipality. He stated that he did not know his relationship with the criminal.
Cristiano was already a councilor for Belford Roxo for the Brazilian Labor Party in 2016. He also tried to be a state deputy for the Liberal Party in 2022, for the Humanist Solidarity Party in 2018 and for the Brazilian Republican Party (currently Republicans) in 2016, but was not elected.
Marcinho VP is considered one of the main drug traffickers in Rio de Janeiro and has been in prison since 1996, serving more than 40 years for trafficking and homicides. He is appointed as one of the leaders of the criminal faction Comando Vermelho, alongside Fernandinho Beira-Mar.
