This Sunday (18), Greenland thanked European countries for supporting the Arctic island, despite tariff threats from United States President Donald Trump, who wants to annex the semi-autonomous territory belonging to Denmark.
France, Germany, Great Britain and other European countries sent troops to Greenland at the request of Denmark, which led Trump to announce that he will start taxing goods from Denmark and seven other European countries starting in February. The measure aims to press for an agreement for the “complete and total” purchase of the island.
In a joint statement, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom said they are committed to strengthening Greenland’s security.
