Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), ordered this Wednesday (15/1) the transfer of former president Jair Messias Bolsonaro from the General Staff Room of the Regional Superintendency of the Federal Police in Brasília to the Papuda Penitentiary Complex. The measure refers to the fulfillment of the custodial sentence established by the STF in the judgment of Criminal Action 2668.
Shortly after Moraes’ decision, the former president was transferred to the Complex.
Jair Bolsonaro’s cell will have a total area of 64.8 square meters, with 10 square meters allocated to external space and 54.7 square meters covered. The site’s infrastructure will include a bedroom, living room, bathroom, kitchen and laundry room.
The decision provides for comprehensive medical assistance 24 hours a day, allowing Bolsonaro to be accompanied by his private doctors without the need for prior communication. Furthermore, the minister authorized immediate travel to hospitals in case of emergency, with the requirement that the defense report what happened in the files within 24 hours.
The transfer takes place under the terms of articles 21 and 341 of the STF’s Internal Regulations, which regulate sentence execution measures and health guarantees for prisoners in special circumstances.
Furthermore, the minister also maintained the authorization of family visits
Jair Bolsonaro was convicted by the Federal Supreme Court in September and is currently serving his sentence of 27 years and 3 months accused of committing crimes against democracy. He is one of eight members of the so-called Nucleus 1 of the coup plot.
