Published on Saturday (10) on X, the post has the following caption: “ICE is messing with the wrong person.” It omits that the material was produced with artificial intelligence (AI) – read details below. The video shows a merchant arguing, in English with an Italian accent, with two members of ICE in a grocery store. The man says, “Hey, that’s enough. You two don’t belong here. Get out of my store. Understand?” Then, one of the agents asks if they can ask some questions, but the shopkeeper replies: “Question? For whom? For the grandma who buys mortadella? It’s over. You come here with that mask, scaring my customers and causing problems in my neighborhood. Get out of here. You don’t have the courage, coward.” In the comments section, users demonstrated support for this stance, while others pointed to the use of AI. After publication, the post received this “community note” on the platform: “This is an AI-generated video due to several discrepancies: 1. Distorted flags on agricultural products. 2. ‘PIC(E/F)’ on the ICE agent’s uniform. 3. Presence of ‘static’ in parts of the background.” ⚠️ Why is this fake? Fato ou Fake submitted the video to HiveModeration, a content detection tool created with AI. Result: there is a 99.7% chance that the material was created with this resource. Fato ou Fake also analyzed a screenshot of the video with Was It AI, another AI detector. The result does not display a percentage, but indicates: “We are quite confident that this image, or a significant part of it, was created by AI.” The recording presents evidence such as letters in a language that does not exist and the acronym “PICE” in place of “ICE” on an agent’s uniform (see below). The misleading post was first published on December 4, 2025, on Instagram, but recirculated in early January after an ICE agent shot and killed a woman in Minnesota.
