United States President Donald Trump said that Cuba must seek an agreement with Washington “before it is too late”. In a social media post Truth Socialthis Sunday (11) he warned that the island will no longer have access to oil from Venezuela nor to any value or investment made by the South American country.
According to Trump, Cuba lived for many years on large amounts of oil and money from Venezuela, in exchange for providing “security services” to the last two Venezuelan dictators. However, the president emphasized that this no longer happens.
Venezuela no longer protects Cuba, says US president
Trump claims that most of the Cubans involved in these operations are dead due to US attacks in recent weeks. Furthermore, according to the North American president, Venezuela no longer needs protection against the bandits and extortionists who held them hostage for so many years. He highlighted that, now, the country counts on the United States — which it classified as the most powerful military force in the world — to guarantee its security.
The US president was emphatic when he said that “there will be no more oil or money for Cuba — zero!” In the end, he strongly recommended that Cuba make an agreement with the United States before it is too late.
Trump is pressuring the interim president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, to accept the end of financing for the Cuban regime, since he captured former dictator Nicolás Maduro, on January 3, in Caracas.
Since Maduro’s arrest, Cuba’s communist regime has intensified surveillance, movement restrictions and police presence in public spaces.
The measures were revealed on social media by human rights organizations and coincide with the Cuban communist regime’s fear of possible internal repercussions given the fall of its main regional ally.
