The ousted dictator of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, arrived this Monday (5), with his wife, Cilia Flores, at the federal court in southern New York, in Manhattan, where he will appear before a judge for the first time, after being captured last Saturday (3) in Caracas and later transferred to the United States.
Maduro and Flores were transferred from the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) to open land on the outskirts of the city, where they were placed in a helicopter that took them to a heliport near the federal courthouse in southern New York. The aircraft landed minutes later near the judicial building.
Maduro must appear in court at 12pm (local time, 2pm Brasília). He was held in custody by agents from the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
The ousted dictator of Venezuela participates in his first hearing this Monday before the American Justice, after the Department of Justice made public, last Saturday (3), a formal accusation against him for crimes related to drug trafficking, originally presented in 2020.
