A ministerial meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) is scheduled to take place this Sunday (4) to discuss the situation in Venezuela following the attacks by the United States and the capture of Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro. The information was confirmed by the secretary general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Laura da Rocha, on Saturday night (3).
According to Maria Laura, the Celac meeting will aim to assess the impacts of North American action in the region. The Brazilian chancellor, Mauro Vieira, should be Brazil’s representative and will participate via videoconference, from Palácio Itamaraty, in Brasília.
Also according to the statement made by Maria Laura after President Lula’s second meeting with members of the government to address the situation, she stated that Brazil will maintain its position against the territorial invasion and attack on Venezuelan sovereignty, attributed to the USA.
