The alliance seeks Latin American and Caribbean integration, in addition to political, economic and social coordination between the countries. 🌍The agenda includes topics such as nuclear disarmament, family farming, culture, energy and the environment, with Latin America in search of autonomy. The chancellor was on vacation until Monday (6), but ended the recess period early and returned to Brasília after the American military action. President Lula coordinated the meeting remotely — he is on recess at a military base in Rio de Janeiro, and is expected to return to Brasília this Monday (6). In a social post, Lula called the military action unacceptable and said it sets a “dangerous precedent” for Latin America (see below). President Lula condemned Donald Trump’s actions in Venezuela Ministerial meeting Also participating were the Minister of Defense, the Chief Minister of the Civil House, the Chief Minister of the Secretariat of Social Communication of the Presidency of the Republic and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the Brazilian ambassador in Caracas, as well as representatives of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations and the Minister of Foreign Relations. In the morning, the ministers held a first emergency meeting and confirmed that there are no Brazilians among possible victims of the United States attacks against Venezuela, during the early hours of the morning. At 5pm, there was a new meeting on the topic, in the same format. Furthermore, at least 100 Brazilians who were on a tourist trip in the country managed to leave throughout the day without any difficulty. “The situation at the border has never been so calm,” said Minister Múcio. The Minister of Defense, José Múcio, stated after the meeting that, at this moment, there is no abnormal movement at the border, but that the government continues to monitor the situation. Minister of Defense says the border with Venezuela is open. The crossing, however, was closed this morning by the Venezuelan government. On the Brazilian side, the space remains open and activities are regular, according to Múcio. Earlier, the Ministry of Justice published a note stating that it is preparing for a possible increase in the flow of refugees. Lula called the attack ‘unacceptable’ Earlier, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva spoke out on social media about what happened and stated that military action goes beyond the line of what is acceptable in relations between countries. “The bombings on Venezuelan territory and the capture of its president cross an unacceptable line. These acts represent a very serious affront to Venezuela’s sovereignty and yet another extremely dangerous precedent for the entire international community.” Lula also stated that this morning’s military action is a flagrant violation of international law and opens space for a world of “violence, chaos and instability.” The PT member also defended that “the action recalls the worst moments of interference in the politics of Latin America and the Caribbean and threatens the preservation of the region as a zone of peace.” “The international community, through the United Nations, needs to respond vigorously to this episode. Brazil condemns these actions and remains available to promote the path of dialogue and cooperation.” Maduro captured United States President Donald Trump said this Saturday (3) that he is still deciding on the future of Venezuela, after US forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro last night. Maduro’s fate is a “warning” for other leaders Trump also said that Maduro and his wife are on their way to New York, aboard one of the US Navy ships positioned in the Caribbean since the end of 2025. Until then, the Venezuelan president’s whereabouts were unknown. In an interview with the Fox News TV network, Donald Trump also stated that the US will become “heavily involved” with Venezuela’s oil industry. He did not detail what the involvement will be, but said China “will continue to receive Venezuelan oil.”
