The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced in the early hours of Saturday (03) that US forces carried out a large-scale attack against Venezuela and that the dictator Nicolás Maduro, together with his wife, had been captured.
The announcement was made after an early morning in which explosions were heard in Caracas and in states such as Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira. Reports indicate that strategic infrastructures were hit, including Fort Tiuna (military complex where the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense is located) and the La Carlota air base.
Maduro’s capture came after a period of intense military pressure. The Venezuelan government confirmed the action, but did not release information about possible deaths or injuries.
