by Syndicated News

The fire department updated, this Friday morning (02), the number of rescues carried out on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. The place, very popular with tourists, especially at the end of the year, has already had 1,167 redemptions between December 31st and January 1st.

The increase in the number of rescue cases is due to the strong sea undertow. O The survey shows the following numbers per beach: Copacabana (396), Ipanema (399), Leme (239), Arpoador (59), Leblon (32), do Diabo (32), São Conrado (8), do Pepino (1) and Vidigal (1).

The navy issued a warning for waves of up to 2.5 meters. The body of firefighters are still searching for a 14-year-old teenager who disappeared in Copacabana last Wednesday (31).
